Join us on our journey to empower over a million people to change their behaviours and thrive!
At Thrive Tribe we deliver award-winning healthy lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that make people happier and healthier! It’s a super exciting time to join us as we begin to deliver a new targeted community physical activity service throughout Hampshire, and we’re looking for a Physical Activity Lead to join the team!
The objective of the service is to provide evidence-based, accessible physical activity interventions across Hampshire, enabling inactive adults (less than 30 minutes of activity a week), to become physically active. To ensure the service contributes to reducing health inequalities in Hampshire, delivery will be highly targeted to ensure the needs of specific population groups, with the greatest levels of inactivity, are met. The service will focus on supporting people to improve their health behaviours, and make long-term, sustainable changes to their lifestyle.
In your role as a Physical Activity Lead, you will be responsible for managing a designated geographic area. Through an ABCD approach (asset-based community development) you will generate a comprehensive understanding of existing physical activity opportunities that are appropriate for our clients, setting up robust and effective pathways to support access. Through co-production, you will identify gaps in community provision, developing new and innovative physical activity opportunities and working with local partner providers to bring these opportunities to life. You will be responsible for sub-contractor management, a small team of bank practitioners/freelancers, in addition to managing your own caseload of clients to increase their physical activity levels.
Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. We don’t like to stick to a firm JD as we know from experience that things change throughout the lifetime of a role and it gives our people the chance to play to their strengths.
A typical day as a Physical Activity Lead might include:
- Closely monitoring the progress of our physical activity programmes, reviewing performance against KPI’s and producing summary reports, when required
- Effective sub-contractor management, inclusive of data capture and reporting, underpinned by detailed service level agreements to ensure quality, effectiveness, safety and accessibility are central to everything our partners do
- Co-production to ensure the service is strongly positioned to identify any gaps in community physical activity provision, for us to focus on
- Developing and delivering a range of physical activity interventions that support clients to increase their physical activity levels
- Taking on the line management responsibility for a small team of Physical Activity Practitioners/freelancers, enabling them to carry out their roles effectively
- Staying abreast of all physical activity opportunities in your area, to ensure the service adds to its menu of options for our clients
- Ensure support is provided to our tier 2 adult weight management service, gloji Hampshire, specific to it’s physical activity-weight management offering
- Building effective working relationships with external partners such as primary and secondary care, Active Partnerships, voluntary sector organisations (and much more!)
- Working with colleagues across all our Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments – we’re always looking to share knowledge and resources!
- Ensuring due consideration is given to Information Governance and Clinical Governance legislation, requirements and guidance
- Helping us maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and using every opportunity to embed our values!

To work with us in this role you will need to have some experience of line management in the health sector and/or co-ordinating a health programme, as well as experience in co-production, and working effectively with partner organisations. We’re also looking for someone who has experience of supporting individuals to make healthy lifestyle choices through physical activity or health coaching – a relevant qualification (such as Level 2/3 Fitness qualification) would be a bonus!
